Here’s your Little KNIT People Deluxe Pattern Pack –
I call it a DELUXE pattern pack because you’re getting row-by-row knitting patterns for the dolls & their clothes, lots of close up photos AND how-to videos for every intermediate stitch used in them. Everything I always wished was included in a knitting pattern!
This pattern pack is designed to make it easy for you to teach your child several more complex stitches (beyond the knit & purl stitch)…. or to brush up on your own skills. The small size allows them to practice each a few times AND finish the projects without becoming frustrated or losing interest. Within these little patterns, they will learn essential concepts & stitches which many more advanced knitters don’t even know (!) –
- a sturdy, multi-purpose cast on (cable)
- a decorative cast on (picot)
- matching decreases (left & right slanting)
- knitting a bottom-up, one-piece garment (the vest)
The patterns are clear & written row by row, so, depending on your child, they might like to use a row counter to keep track of where they are in the pattern.
I also mention using a stitch marker. Again, this is completely optional, but it helps to mark the increases & decreases. This is especially important for newer knitter since they will take longer to knit a piece which makes it easy to forget where one is.
I find boys particularly like to use as many tools & gadgets as possible…!

Yarns
These dolls take up just a tiny amount of yarn & their clothes take even less, so think about letting your child look through your stash OR (bonus points for this one!) take a field-trip to your local yarn shop & let them choose some yarn that they like.
I’ve suggested the yarn weights for the dolls & clothes, you can see the differences in the pictures.
If you decide to use a yarn other than what is indicated, take a look at the ball band on the yarn – if you have one – & try using the suggested needle size. Follow the pattern as written & see how you like the size of the doll. It doesn’t take long to see if you need to change the size of the needle (DOWN to make sure the holes aren’t too big in your work or UP if you find your work is far too tight! ).
Stitch Videos

I hope you & your child enjoy making these little friends & maybe create more than just one pair. After all, they’ll need friends!
