Welcome [wlm_firstname] !

Here is your January Craft-tripping Call ~
You may wonder, what exactly IS a Craft-tripping Call?
It’s simple, these calls feature a maker who inspires me & many others. We go deep into their work & how what they do can help us while we are teaching & raising our children.
In this interview, I am speaking with Betsan Corkhill who lives in Bath, England. I discovered her work while writing my very first course many years ago. I was searching for ways to prove how incredibly valuable handwork is for everyone but particularly for children. When I found her, she was still in the early stages of her research & she sent me some of her scientific & anecdotal evidence. She was the first person to oversee actual medical trials which focused on the power of knitting to help & heal.
I was thrilled ! Finally, someone was taking handwork, & knitting in particular, seriously…
Since then, she has written & co-authored these three books (see below), been featured in countless magazines & craft events, lectured around the world & become my colleague as we are both involved in the new Institute for Therapeutic Craft & Creativity in New York !
Grab a cup of tea & sit back, this conversation is full of great ideas & information & lots of laughter.

I hope you enjoyed this video. I highly recommend Betsan’s books, Knit for Health & Wellness includes loads of information as well as reflective exercises to deepen your knitting practice. The others include patterns for actual knit & crochet projects.
If you have ideas of other people who you would like me to interview, please send them to me. I aim to have relaxed, informal conversations with other makers who can help us improve our own making, inspire us & remind us how important it is to share creative projects & ideas with our children.
Questions? Leave them in the comments below, I’ll answer you there.
Looking forward to our conversation !
