Welcome, [wlm_firstname]!

.Here’s Lesson # 3 – Observation –

The videos in this lesson are very detailed & you will likely have to come back to them more than once (in fact, I’ve had students say they review them frequently!)

The first video took me months to research & complete, in just minutes, you will understand how your child’s brain works & how it is changing as they grow.  You will also gain a VERY clear picture of exactly what handwork can do to build their brain.  Suddenly, when you observe your child, you’ll start to SEE what’s going on in their brain as they learn a skill or work on a project.

This information will be life changing for you & your child.

The following videos go much deeper into the various handwork crafts as well as give you ideas of how & when to integrate handwork projects into your lesson planning.

Lesson 3  Observation

Lesson 3.1

Whole Brain Learning

.

This video is jammed packed with information about the incredible power of the human brain… so hit pause when you need to…draw arrows on your sheets…fill in the vocabulary when it comes up & really work with it to help yourself internalize as much as possible.

The more you understand how your extraordinary child’s brain works, the easier it will be to create Hands-ON lessons which help them LOVE learning ( & make teaching them a whole lot easier for you…)!

A great way to further enhance your learning is to re-tell your KEY takeaway points to someone else, your spouse, a close friend OR even your child.

While you watch this video, take notes on your Whole-Brain Learning Sheets  (click below to print) &/or in your Homeschool Sourcebook.

Handwork Activities

& Their Benefits

.

The Amazing Benefits of Handwork

.

To make good use of handwork projects, you have to know when & how to use them. It is especially helpful to understand what sort of affects simple hand movements can have on your child’s brain & body – for you, your child & when you want to explain to others why you’re making handwork an integral part of your homeschool.

Keep the Handwork Activities & Their Benefits chart nearby when you’re planning your lessons (& leisure activities).  You’ll be surprised how quickly you start to naturally incorporate these ideas into your everyday life, too !

The Handwork Skills Review chart will inspire you over & over so make sure you have your Handwork Project Brainstorm chart ready to jot down ideas as they come to you.  ( I have several copies – one in my Handwork Sourcebook, one in my Homeschool Sourcebook & another in the kitchen… so much easier than having post-its littered about …. although, I have a few of those, too!)

Keep your child ( & their challenges) in mind – you’ll start to see spots where you’ll be able to integrate handwork into your lessons to help them be calmer, more connected to you & others while opening up their natural creative channels.

Handwork Skills

Overview

Here are several videos which will walk you through the Handwork Skills sheet in detail, age by age.  They are chock full of project & activity ideas, information about developmental stages & insights into why handwork is such a powerful way to strengthen & mold your child’s brain.

I highly suggest you listen to them in order because each builds on the next.  You can choose to listen to them all (despite your child’s age) or listen up until one year BEYOND your child’s current age so you can start planning for your next year!

I mention in the welcome video that there is a Blackboard for the course.  The lessons will be included on the main guild Blackboard rather than a separate place.  Also, I have decided to call my unique teaching/learning method, Tapestry Teaching. This is the core of what I teach in the The Making Lessons… so if I refer to Tapestry Teaching in the future, you’ll know what I’m talking about.

If you have questions or would like to share your AHA moments – please leave a comment below.  I’ll answer you there.

Looking forward to our conversation !
